FAQ INSURANCE AND DOCUMENTS
What is it and how does the SDR- Extra Insurance supplement work?
SDR: partial damage coverage -by purchasing Supplement Damage Responsibility coverage at the price of 40€/day (with minimum 5 days rental) we will hold you liable for damages (caused by you) from accident/collision up to 50% of market value of the motorcycle before damage, the remaining 50% will be borne by Tourent Srl.
This will in no way halve the security deposit and deductible in case of fire or theft of the vehicle. SDR is optional, in no way covering optional equipment rented with the motorcycle, e.g. top case and side cases, SDR does not cover loss of vehicle keys or traffic violations.
SDR coverage will cease and the renter will be liable for any damage to the motorcycle (for the full market value of the vehicle before damage) in the event of negligence or misuse of the vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving the vehicle by an unauthorized driver.
The rental company is under no obligation whatsoever to provide the lessee with a replacement vehicle in case of theft, damage or accident. The cost of transporting the crashed vehicle will be borne by the lessee in all cases.
What insurance do you provide for bmw motorcycle rental?
All TOURENT® motorcycles are covered by Civil Liability insurance in accordance with current laws. Motorcycle Liability insurance guarantees coverage of Third Party Liability with respect to persons, property (excluding transported property) and animals in the territories listed in the "green card" attached to the insurance policy.
However, the overall single liability limit is equal to or greater than that prescribed by Italian law. In case of theft or fire of the motorcycle, the security deposit/Standard Excess will be retained in full by the rental company.
In case of accident damage caused by the customer, the customer will pay the full amount of the damage. For each type of motorcycle rented, it is possible to take advantage of the SDR surcharge that lowers the standard Security Deposit/Franchise by 50%.
From what age can BMW Tourent motorcycles be rented?
You must be at least 21 years old to ride a motorcycle between 501cc and 1000cc and licensed for at least 24 months. You must be 25 years old to ride displacements over 1000cc.
There is no age limit for the passenger, who must, however, be able when seated in the back seat, to comfortably touch the soles of their feet to the rear footboards of the motorcycle.
What type of license does one need to have to ride a BMW Tourent motorcycle?
For all rental motorcycles over 650 c.c., you must be at least 25 years of age and have held the European "A License" for driving the motorcycle for at least 18 months.
The European "A License" must be suitable for driving a motorcycle with a mechanical transmission of at least 600 cc displacement and at least 40 kW power.
Therefore, an International Driver's License is not required for European citizens. Instead, for all non-European citizens, a valid International Driver's License with characteristics equivalent to the European "A License" is required.
International standards also allow a non-European citizen to drive in Italy even with his or her own "legally translated" driver's license as long as it has characteristics equivalent to the European "A License."
Make sure you have the required License otherwise the bike cannot be delivered to you and the reservation deposit will be withheld.

It is the obligation of the Client to make a regular report to the competent Authorities immediately . The original of the report, together with the vehicle keys, must be delivered within 48 hours of the same to the TOURENT® agency where the vehicle was rented.
The client is also required to actively cooperate with Tourent in handling the court proceedings.
Notwithstanding the above, any limitation or exclusion of liability is no longer effective, and the full value of the vehicle or amount of damage to the Customer will be charged, in the event of:

What happens in the case of seizure of the vehicle by the judicial authority?
In case of seizure/confiscation of the motorcycle by the Judicial Authority for causes to be attributed to the Client, TOURENT® will charge the Client the daily rental cost until the release of the vehicle, even beyond the amount of the security deposit signed.
If the total amount due for such a lawsuit is equal to the market value of the vehicle plus the expenses for transfer of ownership, estimated at the expiration date of the agreed rental period, TOURENT® after collecting the amount, will proceed to transfer ownership of the seized/confiscated vehicle in favor of the Client
What happens in the case of technical failure?
Tourent motorcycles are covered by BMW's breakdown/warranty insurance, which includes assistance to the motorcycle and rider. This may involve moving the motorcycle to a closer BMW location or authorized repair shop, sending a team to provide assistance, or if parts are not immediately available, overnight or transportation assistance is provided.
You still need to contact the BMW immediate assistance number operating h/24 provided along with the documentation to access the assistance services and contact Tourent staff who will support you in every way in order to get you back on the road as quickly as possible.
After consulting BMW Assistance, in the event of a technical failure of the rented vehicle that precludes the possibility of using the vehicle for more than 48 hours, the vehicle will be replaced, if possible, with a vehicle of the same category. In case of impossibility, at TOURENT®'s sole discretion, only the unused portion of the rental period already paid will be refunded to the Client.
How should I handle the use of the rented motorcycle?
TOURENT® motorcycles are serviced by the manufacturers according to their maintenance schedule. TOURENT® personnel always check the condition of the motorcycles before delivery and properly level the engine, transmission, and gearbox oils, grease and tension the drive chain (where present), and check tire pressure.
Engine, gearbox and transmission oils for motorcycles with gimbals are replaced every 10 thousand kilometers. It is the customer's obligation to check during the rental time that greasing of secondary transmissions (chain, chainring, sprocket), lubrication and engine, gearbox and brake oils are in the state necessary to ensure the operation and safety of the vehicle. The gearbox and transmission oil of TOURENT® motorcycles generally do not need any additions or leveling beyond those made at the time of servicing and then special checks; while the engine oil must be checked visually or by dipstick depending on the rented motorcycle.
This should be done every 1,500 km, with the motorcycle in a perfectly upright position, on level ground, and after it has cooled down (about 10 minutes after being turned off). For all air-cooled 1200 motorcycles and those with 800 engines, there is a difference of 500 grams between the minimum and maximum engine oil level. In contrast, for all BMW 1200 LCs between the minimum and maximum engine oil level there is a difference of 1000 grams.
If a motorcycle with a chain drive is ridden, it should be lubricated and/or tensioned about every 1500 km.
Motorcycles should be allowed to warm up-if they are not already hot-at idle for at least 40 to 60 seconds, and then slowly proceed until the operating temperature (3/4 minutes) indicated by the indicator instrument is reached.
TOURENT® shall not be liable for damages resulting from the Client's failure to comply with the duty of care in the maintenance and operation of the motor vehicle, indeed if it occurs, it shall be considered a case of negligence.
